FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

+ When will I get to start using my benefits?

Immediately! Your benefits, including the 10-15% off of in-person and online purchases, are effective immediately.

+ When do I get mead?

Our releases coincide with solstices and equinoxes. The next release date is September 23rd, which will be the day of the pick-up party and roughly the date of when shipments will arrive to your home.

+ How much does it cost to join?

There is no cost to join the club, you simply pay for the mead that you receive quarterly.

+ Can I pick up my shipment at the meadery?

Yes! You can pick up your shipment from the meadery and you will not be charged for shipping. Since shipping is included on all of the clubs, you get an extra bottle of mead if you pick up from the meadery instead of having your release shipped to you.

You can pick up some releases and get shipped to other releases by emailing samjune@goldencoastmead.com at least 2 weeks before the release date each quarter.

+ What are the penalties if I cancel my membership?

No penalties other than missing out on some delightful mead.

+ What if I'm on vacation at the time of a release?

We can guarentee to hold it for about 30 days after a release. You can always change your shipping address on the Vinoshipper website (if you want your friend to hold it for you, or you want us to send it to your vacation spot). If you want to put your member ship on hold for a quarter you can skip a release and start again next quarter.

+ Why does mead cost more than beer?

Many reasons! First of all the alcohol content is much higher - you see beer ranging from 3% ABV (alcohol by volume) on the low end to 10% ABV on the high end, with most falling around 6% ABV. Most of our mead is 12% ABV.

Also, honey, as the fermentable sugar used to make mead, is significantly more expensive than grain, the fermentable sugar used to make beer. Essentially, our ingredients cost more, which is not surprising since they are higher quality.

Think about it - beer requires many acres of monocultures of grain to make. Monocultures, while simpler to maintain on an industrial scale and cheaper to produce due to economies of scale and subsidies, are devastating for the planet. They cause erosion of topsoil (our earth's skin), and most acreage of grains are regularly doused in a fertilizer and pesticide chemical cocktail.

Honey simply requires happy bees on healthy ecosystems.

 

REQUIREMENTS & TERMS

MEAD SELECTIONS

Every quarter, 4 times per year, your credit card will automatically be billed for the price of club release ($45 plus tax for 3-Bottle STANDARD Club, $80 plus tax for the 6-Bottle Standard Club, $75 plus tax for 3-Bottle SPECIALTY Club, $149.99 plus tax for 12-Bottle Specialty Club).

There are no substitutions, but mead can be added to your shipment.

SHIPMENT INFORMATION

Shipping costs are included for each of the club shipments.

Mead must be signed for by an adult 21 years of age or older.

Golden Coast Mead shipments are guaranteed when signed for on the first delivery attempt.

WILL-CALL

Members who choose to pick up their meads at the meadery may enjoy a pickup window of approximately 30 days, after which time the mead will automatically be shipped to the address on file. Shipping charges will apply.

12-Bottle Club Members who choose to pick up their meads at the meadery will receive an extra bottle of mead for free.

NOTIFICATIONS & COMMUNICATION

Golden Coast Mead’s main form of communication with our members is email. Please note that we do not sell, share, lease, or rent your information; your information is for Golden Coast Mead’s use only.

It is the club members responsibility to notify us of changes to their account, which include, but are not limited to, email address, telephone number or shipping address.

2 to 3 weeks prior to each shipment, a preshipment email will be sent to notify you of which meads will be shipped, and will ask that you check your information listed to ensure the credit card and expiration and shipping address are current. You may also delay your shipment for vacation. Changes to your account must be made by the deadline date noted in the email to avoid any return, redirect or reshipment fees.

The day that your mead leaves the warehouse, an email will be sent listing the tracking number of your package. Click on the link to follow your package progress so you will be available to sign for the mead. Carriers will attempt three deliveries. After the third attempt, the carrier will hold the package at their hub for an additional three days before returning it to the meadery. To avoid any return, redirect or reshipment fees, we recommend providing a business address where an adult over the age of 21 is available to sign for the mead.

GOLDEN COAST MEAD HAS TWO EMAIL LISTS:

Mead Club mailing list: Emails include pre-shipment notifications, tracking numbers, and club event information.

Dispatch from the Frontier of Mead mailing list: Emails include lessons from mead making, news on honeybee health, event information and announcements of new releases.

If you ‘Unsubscribe’ from the Mead Club list, please note that you are responsible for timely checks of your online account and the website for any changes made to the mead club.

SHIPPING

We prefer to ship to a business address to ensure first-attempt delivery. If you do not have a business address, contact us and we can change your shipping information to the nearest FedEx Kinko’s, who will hold your mead without charge for three days.

Carriers will be chosen by Golden Coast Mead to ensure best possible pricing and delivery method.

STATE AND LOCAL LAWS

Per individual state laws, membership may not be available in your area. Due to local election, state laws may change without notice. Please contact us or check our website to verify whether we are able to ship to your state.

Members must be at least 21 years of age and provide verification of their date of birth upon signup.

FEES AND CANCELLATION

There is no fee to join the Golden Coast Mead Club, and there is no early termination fee.

If you contact us after the deadline date in the pre-shipment notification to:

  • Change your address: A redirect fee will be applied to your account. This fee will be dependent upon the carrier fee.

  • Stop your mead shipment and send it at a later date: A return fee as well as a new shipment fee will be applied to your account.

  • Cancel your order: You will be credited for the mead, minus the original shipment and return shipment fee.

MEMBER RESPONSIBILITY

Members must be present with their guests for tours, tastings and events to enjoy the complimentary or member pricing.

Golden Coast Mead practices and encourages safe and responsible alcohol consumption.

It is club members’ responsibility to notify us of changes to their accounts, which include, but are not limited to, email address, telephone number or shipping address. Non-notification may result in return, redirect or reshipment fees.
