Save the Bees
May 1, 12-4pm
"The buzz around Cambria is all about Beautify Cambria's Bee Faire!
Our gorgeous, fuzzy native bees (this one was snapped visiting a California Poppy on the Fiscalini Ranch) are a vital part of our ecosystem. They, along with European honey bees, are essential for two-thirds of the food crops we eat every day. But they’re dying at alarming rates. Suspected culprits include environmental toxins from pesticides and other chemicals, electrosmog from cell towers and other sources, habitat loss and climate change.
Our first annual Bee Faire will celebrate bees and raise awareness of their importance to us and our ecosystem.
We'll have speakers, demonstrations, bee-themed items from jewelry to notecards, a beeswax candle-making class, pollinator-friendly plants for sale, and bee products to sample and buy including luscious local honeys, delicious California mead from sustainably gathered honey (mead is alcohol produced by fermenting honey and is the world's oldest alcoholic beverage), lots of baked goods and other foods made with honey, exotic honey tastings from around the globe (don't miss the Sidr honey from Yemen, the most valuable honey in the world), and more."
